So therefore, this bodhicitta, this altruism, cherishing other sentient beings and obtaining enlightenment, actualizing this comes from, by depending on the sentient beings, their kindness. So without the sentient beings' existence, then, without the suffering sentient beings, there's no way to actualize bodhicitta, this altruism to achieve enlightenment.
So however, the root of the path, the whole realization of the Great Vehicle, the ultimate goal, the full enlightenment, everything we receive by depending on the kindness of each sentient being. So, like this, sentient beings are so precious.
And not only that, in our day-to-day life, all the enjoyments we receive by depending on the kindness of sentient beings. The comfort, the happiness, that we have, living in the comfortable house, so, numberless creatures, insects, suffered, died and many other living beings they have to harm, they have to kill, they have to create the negative actions, so therefore, so much of them, numberless of the living beings, by suffering, killing and dying, then we receive this happiness, this comfort, protection for our life.
Then, same, even the clothing, this enjoyment, happiness that we have, comfort, by wearing the clothing, the dress, so this clothing also, such as silk clothing and animal coat, so many of these clothings also many other beings they died, they suffered, then many other beings they had to harm, had to kill other sentient beings, so like this, then we receive this enjoyment, we receive this clothing and then we have this comfort, this enjoyment.
Now, drink or eating, by drinking, eating, that we are able to survive our life, able to protect our life, so this happiness, this enjoyment, this comfort, then also received by depending on the kindness of the sentient beings. So, even one cup or tea, numberless insects, many insects that usually you don't see, except through machines, so, numberless of them, so many have to die even for one cup of tea and so however, so even this enjoyment, comfort, came, so many sentient beings by suffering, by dying. So, like this, so same thing, so one bowl of soup, same, it came from so many numberless, uncountable, so many insects by suffering, being killed. Then that's how we got comfort, by eating this one bowl of soup. Then, same thing, one rice, numberless of insects in the field, they have to suffer and they have to die, and then many other beings they have to harm, so this one rice came, was received. So this one rice came from another rice, and that rice came from another rice, so numberless, so if we think all the continuation of this one rice, inconceivable, numberless beings, we can't imagine how many beings they died, suffered for this one tiny rice, all the continuation, and the human beings, then harming them, creating negative actions. Then that's how we received the rice.
So therefore all this, day-to-day life all the comfort, all the enjoyment, we receive by depending on the, completely we receive by depending on the kindness of other sentient beings. So therefore, again, by these reasons, there's no time to think of oneself, there's no way to use these things, thinking to obtain only happiness for self, to obtain happiness only for self. So that action become, that attitude becomes very cruel towards the sentient beings.
So however, by having these enjoyments, by using these enjoyments, by receiving these enjoyments, one got to do something for these sentient beings, one got to do something to benefit for these sentient beings, numberless sentient beings, from where all these enjoyments came, enjoyments of our day-to-day life. So, however, if one cherish even one sentient being, that leads you to enlightenment. If one practice compassion to one sentient being, if one cherish one sentient being, that leads you to enlightenment, that purifies so much obscurations and accumulates so much merit, serving even one, oneself taking care, oneself serving even one sentient being accumulates unbelievable merit and itself becomes incredible purification, purifying the obscurations, so cherishing even one sentient being, so that leads, that makes possible, that leads to enlightenment. If one does not cherish this one sentient being, for example, the enemy or the friend who abandon you, who left you or who doesn't love you, for example, this one living being, if one doesn't cherish, it stops enlightenment, it become obstacle, if one doesn't cherish this one sentient being, then itself becomes fundamental obstacle oneself to achieve the peerless happiness, the full enlightenment, to actualize the altruism, cherishing every living being and to bring everyone to peerless happiness, full enlightenment, this become obstacle to generate the door of the Great Vehicle. Then, this becomes obstacle, not cherishing this one person, whether it's the example the enemy or the friend who left you, then, it becomes obstacle to develop all the realizations of the, complete the six paramitas, all the realizations of the Great Vehicle, then to achieve the peerless happiness, full enlightenment. So all these things doesn't happen if one left out, if one renounces this one sentient being. So all these realizations from the bodhicitta, from this altruism, all these achieving realizations of the Great Vehicle up to highest, full enlightenment, the cessation of all the obscurations and the completion of all the realizations, so all these things, one achieve by cherishing even one sentient being. So there's big differences…
...not cherishing, it doesn't happen all these things; by cherishing this one person, all this attainment one is able to complete developing the mind in the path. So there’s huge differences. Therefore, even one sentient being, even this person, what I call ‘enemy’, person who doesn’t love me, and this person, what I call ‘enemy’, who harms me, who I think, believe harming me, who I label ‘harming me’, is extremely kind, so precious, unbelievably precious. Like this, even one sentient being is unbelievably precious. So one sentient being is so precious, how much it benefits to you, by cherishing even that sentient being and by serving even that one sentient being, whether it's father or mother, whether it's child, whether it's even one's own enemy, especially that, it makes to develop one's own mind so rapidly in the path. So however, the real teacher, who makes to develop the mind so fast in the path.
However, so one sentient being is unbelievably precious, so now, so therefore one should cherish, even it's one sentient being one should cherish. From the I, the ego, cherishing the self, all the problems came from the ego, which cherishes the I, so therefore all the problems came from the I. So for example, like this, cherishing oneself, now like this, as long as, the thought cherishing oneself, as long as there's the ego cherishing the self there's no enlightenment, there's no peerless happiness. Same thing, from bodhicitta, all this, the altruism, the door of the Great Vehicle, all the realizations up to peerless happiness, one cannot achieve. So this becomes the greatest obstacle even for the temporary happiness, so as I explained before, even day- to-day life how the problem comes from the ego, so therefore that's how we don't find peace in our mind, in our daily life. So like this.
So cherishing oneself is the door of all the problems, no success of temporary and especially ultimate, up to the peerless happiness, full enlightenment. So therefore, renouncing oneself and cherishing others, even one sentient being. So who is more important? Who is more precious? So this one sentient being, even this one sentient being is more precious than oneself, because all your happiness, all the good things come from this one sentient being; all the problems come from the I. So this one sentient being, so precious, so one cherish.
Then now, so there are two sentient beings, even become more precious, because if every sentient being is so precious like this, all the success, happiness comes, one receive by depending on each sentient being, so anyway, so now two sentient beings become even more precious, because by number, more important than oneself, so therefore one should cherish and work for them. Now, one hundred sentient beings, even much more precious, by number, much more precious, more important than oneself. So, therefore one should cherish and one should work for them. Now, billions of sentient beings, even much more precious, become much more precious, so therefore one should cherish them, much more important than oneself so more number we think, the I become, one can see less and less important. From the very beginning, the I is the source of all the problems, from where all the problems came; the others, from where all the happiness, success comes. So even one sentient being, like this. So now, even from the beginning, there's big differences.
So now the sentient beings are numberless, so therefore, now, numberless, so they become unbelievably precious, important, because numberless. So, now, if we look at the I, after reaching that much then, now if you look at the I, the self, it's nothing, the I is nothing, become nothing important, completely lost, the I, the self, when we think of numberless sentient beings. First, you see, who is more precious? This one sentient being or you? This one sentient being is more precious. Then, now, numberless, so when we look at back the self, I, the self, this is nothing, this is completely, absolutely nothing, nothing important.
So now you can see the meditation, so now you can see our problem is nothing, when we look at by thinking of all the numberless sentient beings who are so precious and so important, so now look at the I, nothing, completely nothing. So how much problem we have, so how much problem we think, I have this problem, that problem, this problem, so much worry and fear, I have this problem, that problem, so much that we build it up by thinking only I. So you see, through this meditation, the bodhicitta meditation, exchanging oneself for others, now you can see, how much problem one has it's nothing, how much problem, disaster that one experience, it's nothing, it becomes nothing. So in your mind, in your heart, the most important thing is the others, the numberless sentient beings. So in our life there's nothing to cherish other than the sentient beings, in our life, there's nothing, there's nobody to work for other than sentient beings, there's nobody in our life to work for other than the sentient beings, the works other than that is empty, is meaningless, no meaning. No meaning. [pause]
Then, so how one can do this, how one can exchange oneself for others, instead of cherishing oneself, cherishing others, how this is possible to do this, because this body we received from parents, originally this was part of parent's body, this body was part of parents's body. Then, originally this was other people's body. Then, oneself labeled I and then cherished, that is how it happened. Even though this, originally this body is others' body, part of the parents' body. So now same thing, also what is called others is also merely labeled by the mind and then the mind can switch, instead of cherishing the I can cherish others. So this is the logic that how the mind can be changed, instead of cherishing oneself, how it can be, change the object and cherish others.
So however, then, after this, the practice, the visualization, the practice exchanging oneself for others, the visualization. So, first one generate the compassion, How wonderful it is if all the sentient beings, if they are free from all the suffering and causes, then I will free them from all the suffering and causes. Then generate great compassion. Then one take all the place, all the undesirable place, for example, hell beings, all the undesirable place, the ice place, cold hells, then hot hells, the fire place, with the hot red burning, then animal beings, the undesirable place, the hungry ghost beings undesirable place, then human beings, all the undesirable place, the dirty unclean, all the undesirable place one take into in the form of pollution, all become kind of fogginess or pollution. Then, went through the nose, then absorbed on the ego, the self-cherishing thought, everything absorbed on the ego, the self-cherishing thought. Then, you give it all to the ego, use as a weapon. Then the ego, the self-cherishing thought completely become destroyed. The self-cherishing thought become non-existent, the ego become non- existent. Then even the object, the I, which the ego strongly cherishes, that emotional I or that real I, existing from its own side, then even that, together even that become empty, even that become completely empty.
Then, so one can take all the undesirable place, then, all the causes, all the sufferings, all the problems, so if one has relationship problems, then think of all others relationship problems. So if one has a particular disease, then first think of all those others, numberless beings, who have this particular disease. Then all the rest of the sufferings, and all the causes. Then, like shaving hair or like if there's thorn went inside, like taking out a thorn, like that, all the sufferings and causes, then all, as one breathe in slowly then they all in the form of pollution immediately they become free, completely free from all the suffering and causes.
Then, in the form of pollution, then went through the nose, then again, same thing destroyed the ego and also the I, the real I, emotional I, which appears existing from its own side, even that all together become completely empty. Then, so one concentrate in that emptiness little bit, in that emptiness, the ultimate truth of the I, one concentrate a little bit in that. So this way it is combined, the conventional bodhicitta, practice of the conventional bodhicitta, the altruism, the thought of enlightenment, and practicing the right view, the absolute bodhicitta, even though we don't have wisdom absolute bodhicitta that which directly perceives emptiness, however, then, in this way, the taking, the bodhicitta practice taking and giving is integrated also with emptiness, meditation on the ultimate truth.
Then, one generate the loving kindness, How wonderful if all the sentient beings they have happiness and the cause. And I will cause them to have happiness. Then, by generating loving kindness, the great loving kindness, by thinking, then, more extensive way to think is that, when one generate compassion, the sentient beings, even what they don't want is suffering, but they are ignorant in the cause of suffering and they constantly create the cause of suffering. Even they know what is the cause of suffering but they are lazy to abandon the cause of suffering. Then, like this, when one practice great loving kindness, even the sentient beings, what they want is happiness, but they are devoid of happiness, even they have temporary happiness but they are devoid of ultimate happiness, so like that, full enlightenment. So, and they don't know the cause of happiness, even they know but lazy, unable to practice. Then one recite, How wonderful it is, like that.
Then, one give, one visualize one's own body, wish-granting jewel, jewel that which grants all the wishes, that brings all their, whatever they want, visualize wish-granting jewel, then, the three times merits, all the good karma, all the positive actions, all the result, happiness up to highest enlightenment, so everything one gives, so, and possessions, the friend, the surrounding people, anything that, so everything, possessions, surrounding people, the friend, so forth, friend, family, so one offer to every sentient being. So they receive everything whatever they want. So, they received all the merit, all the realizations up to enlightenment, everything they received. So from this, those who want friend, they receive friend, they found friend; those who want to find a guru, they found a perfect guru; those who want to find retreat place, they found retreat place; those who want to find job, they found job; those who want to find doctor, they found qualified doctor; those who want to find medicine, they found medicine. So whatever they want, they receive.
Then also especially, for human beings, the main thing is shortage of the means of living, one problem, so however, each human being, from your body, which is wish-granting jewel, all the merits, they received the whole sky filled with dollars, each person is receiving showers of millions of dollars, each person's house, whole house is completely filled with the, packed with the , the dining room, kitchen, however, everything completely filled with dollars, millions of dollars. So this is making charity, so if you make charity like this, if we can visualize as extensively as possible, and we make charity, then we are creating the cause for success, by the way, even we don't expect for wealth, even we don't expect to receive wealth, by making charity like this, as extensively as possible, as one can think of, as much as possible, then, we are creating the cause of wealth, success, so, for this life, future lives, to find jobs easily, this life and all the future lives, however, to not be poverty in the wealth. So however, this becomes cause of our success, so that, by having success, so that we can benefit more to others. So that is the whole politics . So by making charity to others like this, then we create the cause of the success, so by having more success, then we are able to help more for other sentient beings. So however, so human beings like this. So all these enjoyments becoming cause only to generate the path in their minds, so method and wisdom and they all become enlightened, so that is the ultimate, every human being free from all the suffering and causes.
So therefore, then, similar like this, one dedicate for the worldly gods, deva, sura, asuras, according to, such as protective armor and so forth, according to their need. Then, same thing they become enlightened.
Then one make charity, one practice giving to them, all the hell beings. So, one thing is the place, as one, when one give, when one does the practice of giving, so, by giving to them, their place, for example, hell beings, their place completely transformed in pure realm, pure land, Utopia , the pure realm. So have to think also the place, that one I didn't get to mention before. So, one should visualize how the pure realm of the enlightened being is described, how blissful it is. There's no suffering at all, so, you visualize the quality of the pure realm, having perfect enjoyment, and there's no suffering, nothing cause delusion. So, most beautiful as possible.
Then all their houses, oneness with the fire, all the iron houses oneness with fire, all become mandala, all become jewel palace, like that. So then they all receive what they want and then they become enlightened.
Then same thing for preta beings. Place transformed pure realm, then they receive many thousands of food, nectar food to them. So however, particularly thinking according to what they need. Then however, ultimate thing is they all become enlightened.
Then, animal beings, protection, manifesting in the deities, the Vajrapani, so forth, enlightened beings, protection from other animals attacking, so this is one of their main fears. Then all receive whatever they want, then become cause to actualize the path, become enlightened.
Then one make, so all of the sentient beings, one give, arhats, bodhisattvas. So when one take, also one take all their subtle obscurations, higher bodhisattvas, arhats. Then for Buddhas, there's nothing to take, except to make offerings, the gurus, Buddhas.
So therefore, now, then after everyone become enlightened, then rejoice, How wonderful it is that I have enlightened everyone. So, this is the practice, the actual practice exchanging oneself for others, after meditating on the shortcomings of self- cherishing thought and how sentient beings are so kind and so precious, meditating on their kindness, how they are precious and the benefits of cherishing others.
