Since 1997 LYWA has been custodian of the vast collection of Lama Yeshe’s and Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s authentic and exceptional teachings. The Lamas' legacy of unique Dharma instruction not only lives on in the work that we do but also in all of us. LYWA Membership supporters enable us to continue our work to safeguard and preserve the Lamas’ teachings as well as to keep them alive and relevant in changing times.

We invite you to become a Member with a pledge of at least US$1,000. The main benefit is that you’ll be playing a key role in bringing the essential teachings of Lama Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche to tens—perhaps hundreds—of thousands of people worldwide.

LYWA editors, in collaboration with Wisdom Publications, continue to prepare and publish various lamrim commentaries by Lama Zopa Rinpoche, such as recent titles The Power of Mantra, Perseverance and The Six Perfections. Several tantric commentaries by Lama Yeshe have also been published, including the popular titles Introduction to Tantra and Becoming the Compassion Buddha. Ongoing LYWA projects include a Manjushri commentary by Lama Yeshe and commentaries on Hayagriva and Heruka by Lama Zopa Rinpoche. Many more await preparation.

Why do we have an exclusive members' area?

A Lama Yeshe Wisdom Archive supporter queried the creation of an exclusive Members' Area that is only accessible to more affluent people. He wrote that providing status or privilege on the basis of wealth is a manifestation of 'grinding down the face of the poor' and this upper level of membership shuts out people who can only afford smaller gifts. He didn’t want to seem confrontational and said we have to look at our belief in karma and the principles of fundraising.

Director Nick Ribush replied:

“The thing is this...we need to find the resources to hire editors to make the teachings we have in the Archive available to everybody. The way we're trying to do this (and remember, I have been raising money for Dharma projects for more than 30 years, so have a bit of experience with what works and what doesn't—see my article on fund raising for more details) is to institute a membership plan where people who contribute $1,000 get certain benefits. Like you, I live in the real world, and sometimes people need to be enticed to part with $1,000. If they didn't, I'd just put the word out and tomorrow we'd have all the money we need. If indeed there is a better way, tell me and I'll do it, no problem.

“In the meantime, we have tens of thousands of pages of teachings and hundreds of hours of recordings freely available on our website, and over 800,000 free books in print. More books are always in progress, and people who have signed up for our free monthly e-letter get another free teaching every month.”
